Last Updated: Nov 06, 2018 12:15PM CET

A Alias (APEX ALIAS) record points the root domain (example.com) to a server name.

Please follow these steps to configure the apex alias:

  1. In your account go to DOMAIN NAMES > ACTIVE.
  2. Move the cursor over the concerned domain and click on Manage on the right.
  3. Click on MANAGE ZONE.
  4. Click on NEW RECORD.
  5. Select ALIAS (APEX Alias) in the in the "Type" dropdown menu.
  6. Enter the name of the server in the field: "Points to". (Please enter a “.” at the end of the server name if the server is outside of the concerned domain. For example: "myserver.example.com.")
  7. Enter the TTL value. The default one is 1 hour.
  8. Click on SAVE RECORD.
  9. Click on SAVE ZONE.
Note: DNS changes usually need up to 24 hours to propagate throughout the entire Internet.

Important: This option is only available if the domain is using  name servers (default name servers: ns1 / ns2).
